Finalised my house today.

Earlier I set up a standing order for my house and I can't get my head around how weird that actually is. I haven't had a problem moving to halls because, well, it's not a house- it's a box. With a house it's different.

Next time I go back to that estate agents on the 1st of July I'll have my key. We've already sorted out who has which room and I've ended up with the bottom lower; I've had big rooms and ground floor rooms in the past and I haven't had a problem with them, so I was easy enough to fit in!

We're all looking forward to the house. We asked if we can strip and paint the walls and it turns out we can (for the record, two-tone wallpaper is never a good option), so that's another job for the summer. We are also planning on having a garden party ASAP, so it's all looking up.

Moving in may prove to be difficult. There's around 5/6 parallel roads that are full of student houses, so around 4/500 houses I'd assume. That's a lot of free parking. Not. I was thinking about putting my things in storage for one night, simply because moving in when everyone else does will be manic.

I was thinking about getting a 4ft plant in my room for oxygen and freshness. I love that fresh smell, having recently invested in a bedside plant. A little bit of life in the room is nice. I'm going to paint my room walls a plain white colour so it looks bright. My future could be decided in this room, so I need it to be nice and fresh! I've seen plant in IKEA for around £30, so when I move in I will definitely invest.

In other news, the past few days have been nice. 17 degrees nice. Shorts weather. I've realised I've bought 3 pairs of shorts since the turn of the year and I haven't even worn them yet, so I'm glad I now have that chance. You watch, it will probably snow next week!

I finish Uni lectures on the 10th of may, so roughly 2 weeks. Absolutely crazy. When I was told that degrees go fast, I didn't believe them. How naive! The only test I have is on the 22nd (ish) of May, so I finish relatively early. Let the boredom commence.

Stay tuned for more updates.

My life could've turned out different today.

Thank god it hasn't.

Now I live in a different halls of residence than my girlfriend and I stayed at mine last night. Being a good boyfriend, I got up early and see her off to work. On the walk to my girlfriends halls I saw a few police cars. Nothing out of the ordinary- quite normal, in fact.

Turns out someone had their head popped off.

I was at St Marys at around 11:10am. I took this picture to show my girlfriend:

The story on here started reporting at 12am. If I had left 15 minutes earlier, I could've been in the middle of it. Not entirely sure I fancy that. It was actually only by chance that I left a little later than I had planned as I couldn't find my wallet. Chain of events.

To whoever nearly made me lose my wallet, I thank you.

Followers.

So after hours of finding out how to add a follower widget (being an IT student, I hate it when I can't do things on computers), it has occurred to me that the old-style followers widget has been deleted off the face of the earth by Google.

The new one is tacky. I hate it. I like my page clean :(.

Still, I have to deal with it. The new follower button is located to the left under 'Google+', which is obviously created to promote Google+; it is horrendous, after all.

That time of the year.

First off, welcome to my new blog. I figured I should follow the recent trend of my friends getting blogs in order to stop myself growing crazy over the next 6 months off. Maybe it will do the complete opposite? Who knows. I'll be posting about random things that should relate to you, so stick around.  Those who read this (thanks Mum), feel free to drop me your blog and I'll follow you.

Now then, the following topic should apply to all of you.

That time of the year.

You know, when academic duties are finished and your brain is released of all duties to function. Everyone has been there. Previously I've been able to sit on my ass all day and play Call of Duty but I rarely play games anymore- to the extent that my x-box isn't even set up.

-an empty 'asda' cocopops box

I even keep my oil in my room. The risk of a £1.39 bottle of sunflower oil is too much of a risk to leave in my kitchen. Yes, life of a student gets that bad.

The prospect of a boring summer wouldn't be that bad if my old manager didn't adios to the Midlands, resulting in a new kitchen manager who looked along the lines of this:

She listened to metallica all shift. You're building up a stereotype pretty quickly, aren't you? Fatty released me of my prohibition period because I said I didn't want all the hours (35 of them). Not performance based, I might add! I had 3rd best times out of 7 staff. Yeah the money was good, but most of it went on eating out and the Jack Wills Outlet. F$%k.

Back on topic.

So I was wondering: what am I going to do this summer? I'm living away from home the majority of this summer in my house (cannot face walking around old faces for 6 months), so I can't exactly have the simple luxuries of watching Sky's 'How It's Made' all day whilst eating out of date crisps all day.

The days.

No. I need to find another job and I should probably take up some hobbies. I need to learn C++ (a programming language) and I should probably start cutting down so I look semi-reasonable for my holiday in La Manga, Spain. I keep looking online for tips and tricks but I know what I need to do, I just can rarely find the effort. This applies to you too, and you know it. Football Manager is traditionally a good time-killer; the football season ends in just over a month and I usually get withdrawal symptoms, resulting in working my way into the 2314/15 season; however, this is money. Money I don't have.

So then- summer awaits and I'm anticipating a fairly boring one. Most of my friends will go home and after July I'll barely get to see my girlfriend. Nice, optimistic writing, eh? I hope I'm wrong, though. Summer is about garden parties, sunnies, shorts and a cold pint with added ice. Something that would top off an already-good 2013. Let's hope it doesn't disappoint.
